A new sample pack titled ‘Contemporary Bangla Choir’ has been launched on the music creation platform Splice under the Aaroh label, created and produced by Dhaka-based musician and composer Armeen Musa.
Curated by Dhruv Goel, an LA-based Indian composer and the artistic director of Aaroh, this a cappella vocal pack blends traditional and contemporary Bangla music elements.
It includes vocal harmonies, choir arrangements, bol, sargam, and folk sounds. Sample packs on the platform Splice are collections of sounds that musicians can use in their own songs, as per its press release.
The ‘Contemporary Bangla Choir’ features vocals from Ghaashphoring Choir members Atkia Sadia Rahman, Nandanangshu Purkyastha Dhrubo, along with guest artistes Adnan Rushdi, Abanti Sithi and Armeen Musa herself.
The album was engineered by Iftekharul Shuvo and recorded at Kolorob Studio. The cover artwork for the project was created by Bangladeshi artist Nazneen Meem.
Armeen Musa, known as a performer, is also a composer, contributing to projects like Facebook Sound Collection, Aniruddha Sen’s documentaries, Reetu Sattar’s films, and Syed Jamil Ahmed’s theatre production ‘Ami Birangona Bolchhi’.
Armeen Musa is currently showcasing her upcoming album through intimate acoustic performances in cities such as London, Dhaka and others.
