Armed criminal held with pistol

NARAYANGANJ: Araihazar police arrest Forhad Hossain Iftion Friday in Chhoto Fausa village with a foreign pistol and ammunition, suspecting his role in a motorcycle theft gang.

Police have arrested a young man named Forhad Hossain Ifti (28) with a foreign-made pistol, magazine, and ammunition in Araihazar, Narayanganj.

The arrest took place around 1:30 a.m. on Friday night during a raid at Purbo Para area of Chhoto Fausa village under Brahmandi Union.

The detainee, Ifti, is the son of Sattar Mia from Krishnapura village in Araihazar upazila headquarters. He is also suspected of being an active member of a motorcycle theft ring, according to police sources.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Khondokar Nasir Uddin of Araihazar Police Station said a gang of 10-12 men had gathered in the area to commit a major crime.

Acting on a tip-off, several police teams surrounded them. While the others managed to flee, police succeeded in capturing Ifti.

A foreign pistol (made in the USA), one magazine, and two rounds of ammunition were found hidden in his waistband. These items were seized in front of witnesses at the scene, the OC added.

He further said that Forhad Hossain Ifti had a previous case filed against him under the Narcotics Control Act at Uttara West Police Station in Dhaka (FIR No. 38, dated May 21, 2025).

A new case has been filed with Araihazar Police Station in connection with the latest incident.
