NN Online:
BNP Standing Committee Member Nazrul Islam Khan has called for broad anti-fascist unity to uphold the spirit of the July uprising, warning that failure to resist corruption and misrule could undermine the nation’s achievements.
“Without unity against fascism, the ideals of July will fade. We must protect them,” he said while addressing a mock parliamentary debate hosted by Debate for Democracy at the BFDC premises in Dhaka on Saturday.
Nazrul acknowledged political differences among BNP, Jamaat, NCP, and others, but said all are democratic forces. “There is no reason elections can’t be held. The public and political atmosphere support it. We want elections immediately,” he asserted.
He reiterated BNP’s pledge to form a national or consensus government if elected and accused the “fallen” Awami League of continuing conspiracies to destabilise the country.
In the debate competition, Eden Mohila College emerged as the winner over Tejgaon College. Participants received trophies, crests, and certificates.
