The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement has announced a programme demanding justice and a ban on the Awami League (AL).
On Wednesday, the anti-discrimination student movement announced this programme through a post on its Facebook page.
“The funeral of Shaheed Abul Kashem will take place in Gazipur’s Central Shaheed Minar at 9pm. A memorial prayer for Shaheed Kashem will be held in every district, upazila, union, and village across the country, followed by coffin processions demanding justice and a ban on the Awami League,” it added.
Hasnat Abdullah – the convener of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement – also voiced a demand for the ban of the Awami League in a post on his verified Facebook page and added the hashtag “Ban Awami League” in his post, saying that after events like the Aynaghar incident and the death of his brother, Shaheed Kashem, there is no turning back and that the Awami League must be banned.
Abul Kashem, aged 20, died at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital’s ICU on Wednesday afternoon after being severely beaten by local Awami League, Jubo League, and Chhatra League members during an attack at the home of former minister AKM Mozammel Haque in Gazipur. The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement has condemned the death, and called for swift action.
