The much-discussed Devil Md. Aftab Uddin alias Dredger Aftab alias Carpet Aftab alias Balu Aftab, accused in the anti-discrimination case in Sylhet, has been arrested.
The discussed Awami Devil Md. Aftab Uddin is the accused in Kotwali Model Police Station Case No. 05(6) 25 GR 271/25, 174th accused in the complaint.
On Tuesday (October 14) night, the police arrested Md. Aftab Uddin alias Aftab Mia from his own residence in Majortila area of ​​Shahparan Police Station, Sylhet.
According to police station sources, during the 2024 anti-discrimination student movement in Sylhet, Awami League leaders and activists attacked the student crowd and injured several people. In that incident, a case was filed with Kathowali Police Station, accusing 188 people. Aftab is the 174th accused in that case.
Confirming the matter, Kotwali Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Khandaker Mostafizur Rahman said that he has been arrested in a case filed in connection with the attack on the anti-discrimination movement.
As of the time of writing this report, the much-discussed Aftab Mia has been sent to jail through the court.
Meanwhile, Aftab’s illegal sand extraction from the land outside the lease with the prohibited section and dredger machine in Kanaighat, Sylhet is still continuing. In the larger interest of the government and the local people, the conscious people of the area have demanded that Aftab’s equipment used for illegal sand extraction be seized.
