The government has banned Islamic militant outfit ‘Ansarullah Bangla Team’ for its involvement in anti-state activities. The Home Ministry issued a gazette notification on Monday outlawing the Islamic militant outfit, State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan told UNB. On May 16, police sent a proposal to the ministry seeking a ban on the militant group. The ban came after Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique and nine other prominent citizens received death threat from the ‘Ansarullah Bangla Team’ recently. Prime Minister’s Political Affairs Adviser HT Imam’s name was on top of the list. The others are Ganajagaran Mancha spokesman Imran H Sarker, prominent writer Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, DU teacher Kaberi Gayen, Jagannath Hall Provost Ashim Sarker and Awami League MP Tarana Halim.– Dhaka, May 25 (UNB)
