A member of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) was shot dead by miscreants in front of Maghbazar wireless gate in the city on Wednesday midnight.
The deceased has been identified as Abdul Alim(28), son of Mirza Fakir, from Sahgata upazila in Gaibandha district.
Sources said, miscreants fired bullets targeting the victim, leaving him critically injured.
Later, locals rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where doctor declared him dead after midnight.
Kamrul Hasan, Sub-Inspector of Ramna Police Station said, the motive behind the killing could not be known immediately. We are investigating the case.
