Bangladesh Ansar emerged the champions in the Ruchi 36th National Women’s Handball Competition defeating Bangladesh Police by 35-29 goals in the final at Shaheed M Mansur Ali National Stadium in Paltan on Monday.
Bangladesh Ansar led the first half by 17-12 goals.
By virtue of yesterday’s victory, Bangladesh Ansar became record 24 times champions in the National Women’s Handball Competition.
Rubina of Bangladesh Police was adjudged the Player of the Tournament for her outstanding performance.
Meanwhile, Panchagarh District team finished third beating Dhaka District team by 34-22 goals in a place-deciding match at the same venue on the same day.
After the final match, Adviser to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Syeda Rizwana Hasan distributed the prizes among the winners as the chief guest. Vice-President of Bangladesh Handball Federation (BHF) Dr Abu Nasar Mohammad Abdullah, General Secretary of BHF Md Salahuddin Ahmed, Joint-Secretary of BHF Rashida Afzalun Nessa were present at the time. Sponsor of the handball meet Marketing Manager of Square Food & Beverage Limited Md Shahriar Alam was also present.
Champions Bangladesh Ansar were awarded Tk 25 thousand, while the runners-up Bangladesh Police got Tk 15 thousand and the third-place achiever Panchagarh District team were given Tk 10 thousand. The three teams also got trophies.
