College students blocked the Mostafa Majir intersection of Rampura-Demra Road after a first-year student was killed in a road accident on Friday noon.
The victim, 19-year-old Ibne Tasnim Iram, was a student at Gulam Mostafa College. He lived with his parents at Amulia Purbapara in Demra.
A passenger bus of ‘Ramzan Paribahan’ hit his cycle, killing him on the spot, said Sub-Inspector Mozammel Hossain of Demra Police Station. Students of Gulam Mostafa College and locals came out on the streets as news of Iram’s death spread. They put up barricades on the road, halting vehicular movement.
Driver and helper of the bus were arrested from city’s Rampura area on Friday.
They suspended their protests around 4pm, SI Muzammel said.
