The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-10), with support from RAB-11, arrested another accused in the brutal murder of scrap trader Lal Chand alias Sohag. The suspect, Nannu, was detained around 1:00 am on Tuesday (July 14) from the Bandar area of Narayanganj, raising the total number of arrests to eight.
RAB-11 Commander Lt Col HM Sajjad Hossain confirmed the arrest, stating that RAB-10 led the operation while they assisted. He added that further details would be provided by RAB-10.
According to sources, Nannu was one of four men who fatally struck Sohag with bricks and cement blocks during the attack. The murder took place on July 9 at Rojoni Ghosh Lane near Mitford Hospital, allegedly over a business-related dispute. Sohag died on the spot due to the savage assault.
A case was filed at Kotwali Police Station by the victim’s sister, naming 19 individuals. The incident has since triggered widespread public outrage, with locals pointing to extortion as the likely motive behind the killing.
