Hollywood star Angelina Jolie, known for her humanitarian work around the world, recently visited Ukraine.
But her secret visit to war-torn cities has sparked some unexpected events.
This is Jolie’s second visit to Ukraine as a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
She had previously visited Lviv after Russia invaded in 2022. But this time she traveled to other war-torn areas in southern Ukraine, including the more dangerous, frontline city of Kherson.
During the trip, Jolie visited several children’s hospitals, maternity wards and other emergency services.
In photos circulating on social media, the Oscar-winning actress is seen wearing a bulletproof vest and helmet.
In other photos, she is seen smiling with children in the city, which was recently hit by Russian airstrikes.
However, during this trip, an unexpected incident occurred. According to the international media outlet Politico, a member of Jolie’s team, who was her driver, was arrested at a checkpoint and ordered to be directly recruited
into the Ukrainian army.
It is understood that Jolie’s visit was not coordinated with the Ukrainian government and she entered the country on foot.
Although the Ukrainian Army Land Forces later shared a statement about the incident, which was quickly deleted. They neither confirmed nor denied the incident.
