Anar murder 2 new suspects arrested

Two more suspects have been arrested by DB in connection with MP Anwarul Azim Anar’s murder case.
The arrested persons have been identified as Foysal Bhuyian and Mostafizur Rahman.

They were arrested in the remote hills of Sitakunda on Wednesday.

Later, they were brought to Dhaka by Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) of police Dhaka.

Detective Branch’s (DB) Additional Commissioner Harun Or Rashid led the drive.

On Wednesday evening, in a press briefing, DB Chief said that Faisal Ali Saji and Mostafizur Rahman Fakir returned to the country on May 19 last after killing MP Anwarul Azim Anar in Kolkata. Since then they have been absconding hills area of Khagrachhari.

A team of DB conducted raided in Khagrachhari hills with helicopters and succeded to arrest them on Wednesday.
Later, the DB team brought both Faisal and Mostafiz to Dhaka by a helicopter.

Investigators say they believe Foysal and Mostafiz have important information about Anar’s murder.

Jhenaidah-4 parliamentarian Anar went to Kolkata on May 12, reportedly for treatment. He went missing the next day.

On May 22, Indian officials said he had been murdered in a flat in New Town. Six days later, body parts were found in the septic tank of that building. It is unclear if they belong to the MP.

Earlier, four suspects arrested in Bangladesh have confessed to killing the Awami League parliamentarian.
