The Chief Adviser’s Press Wing has strongly refuted a news story published by the Indian daily Ananda Bazar Patrika, dismissing it as entirely false and misleading.
In a statement posted on its verified Facebook account, CA Press Wing Facts, the press wing likened the report to a Bollywood romantic comedy, claiming it has no basis in reality.
According to the statement, elements within the Indian media are allegedly engaging in hybrid warfare tactics to support Sheikh Hasina, described as their long-time proxy, while attempting to discredit Bangladesh’s people and institutions.
The press wing asserted that the country’s citizens ended her rule in July and August, and this media operation is aimed at undermining Bangladesh’s sovereignty and dignity.
The statement further explained that hybrid warfare employs disinformation to create divisions within a target country and alienate it from its allies.
Such operations, it claimed, typically begin with a fabricated story attributed to unnamed sources and published in a cooperative media outlet.
“If the story is sufficiently sensational, it may be picked up by other media outlets, gaining apparent credibility as it spreads.
Eventually, even those who follow global events but lack the time to verify details may come to believe the narrative, despite its origins as mere propaganda,” the statement read.
The press wing accused Ananda Bazar of serving as a willing mouthpiece for such disinformation, with the ultimate goal of manipulating public perception and influencing actions against Bangladesh’s sovereignty.
“You must choose whether to practice journalism-based on collecting factual evidence of real-world events-or to propagate falsehoods as part of a campaign to undermine the sovereignty and dignity of a friendly neighbor,” the statement concluded.
Authorities in Bangladesh have reaffirmed their commitment to combating misinformation, emphasizing the importance of accurate and evidence-based reporting.
