KISHOREGANJ: Deputy Commissioner, also District Magistrate of Kishoreganj, Fouzia Khan offers floral tributes to language heroes at Shaheed Minar on Gorudhyal College campus on Friday.

Amar Ekushey and the International Mother Language Day-2025 was observed on Friday across the country, marking the supreme sacrifice of the language heroes for upholding the dignity of mother tongue Bangla.
The Day was also observed around the world since the UNESCO recognised the 21st February (Ekushey February) as the International Mother Language Day on November 17, 1999.
This year’s UNESCO topic of the Day – “Make Languages Count for Sustainable Development” – is time befitting.
In Kishoreganj, to mark the day , different programmes were organised in the district.
Wreaths were placed on the Central Shaheed Minar at Gorudhyal Government College in the town. The District Administration led by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Fouzia Khan offered the floral tribute first to the language heroes there at 12:01 am.
Then, District Police led by Superintend of Police (SP) Md.Hasan Chowdhury BPM. Zilla Parishad, kishoreganj. Municipalty, District BNP and associate organizations, Press Club, Udichi Shilpi Goshthi, and various political parties, socio-cultural organizations and educational institutions paid homage at the Shaheed Minar in phases.
After placing wreaths, a special Munajat was offered there seeking the eternal peace for the departed souls of the martyrs of the Language Movement in 1952’s 21st February” A book fair begins at Syed Nazrul Islam outdoor stadium on Friday afternoon.
