Bangladesh Police will no longer have separate uniforms for different units, as all members of the force will adopt a unified uniform, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sheikh Sajjad Ali announced.
He shared this information during a view-exchange meeting with the newly elected executive committee members of the Crime Reporters Association, CRAB, on Tuesday afternoon.
“All units of the police force will wear the same uniform,” he said, noting that the current practice of having separate uniforms for different units will be discontinued.
Earlier, on Monday, January 20, Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury revealed that new uniforms had been finalized for the Police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), and Ansar forces. The decision was made during a meeting of the Advisory Committee on Law and Order at the Secretariat.
“The decision on the uniforms has been finalized. We have selected one uniform for the Police, one for the RAB, and one for the Ansar,” said the adviser. He added that the new uniforms would be distributed in phases to ensure a smooth transition.
