Chattagram District Civil Surgeon Dr. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said that there is no substitute for nutrition in building a healthy nation. To eliminate malnutrition, nutritious food must be consumed. In addition, it is important to change personal hygiene, washing hands properly and eating habits.
Awareness must be created everywhere in this regard. He said these things while speaking as the chief guest at the Health and Nutrition Fair organized by Karnaphuli Area Program “World Vision Bangladesh” at Kazir Diya in Chandgaon area of Chattagram city on Thursday (January 30).
Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr. Touhidul Anwar, Medical Officer Dr. Rakhi, Dr. Pinaki, prominent social workers Ali Akbar and Saiful Islam were special guests at the discussion meeting of the Health and Nutrition Fair held under the chairmanship of World Vision Bangladesh’s Area Program Manager Johnny Rosario. World Vision Bangladesh’s Program Officer Christopher Cuia, Dolon Rosario and Karnaphuli Kindergarten Principal Abdul Karim spoke.
The speakers commented on the need to create more widespread awareness at the community level about puberty, malnutrition, air pollution and personal hygiene. The day-long programs at the Health and Nutrition Fair included free medical services, diabetes tests, blood group determination, and distribution of nutritious food, stall visits and cultural programs. About 2,000 people from the underprivileged groups, including women and children, received free medical services at the fair. Finally, crests were given to the participating organizations in the fair.
