Alamdanga livestock market is the largest livestock market in the region.
After the Awami League came to power under the supervision of Fakhruddin, for 14 years from 2010 to 2024, some Awami League individuals have looted the Alamdanga livestock market in the name of lease. Awami League MP Solaiman Haque Joarddar Chelun’s blessing, the identified gang, called the market for the last time in 2017, called for an open auction.
Before that, for 7 years, they had kept the livestock market under their control by adding an average of one lakh taka each time. In 2017, the open auction was held for 1 crore 34 lakh 32 thousand taka. Then MP Chelun’s wrath came down on the livestock market again.
A claim was made that the livestock market had suffered losses and a writ was filed in the High Court through the owner of the market, Hasanuzzaman Hannan. On the orders of the High Court, the livestock market was leased for the same amount for the next two consecutive years, i.e. until 2019.
In 2020, following the High Court’s instructions, Hasanuzzaman Hannan obtained a lease of 1 crore 49 lakh 9 thousand 520 taka, increasing it by 11 percent.
