Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested Awami League presidium member and former minister Amir Hossain Amu from Dhanmondi area in the city on Wednesday.
Police said the former minister of the deposed Hasina government was picked up around 1:30pm from a residence in the area.
Mohammad Talebur Rahman, Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s (DMP) deputy commissioner of media and public relations, confirmed the arrest. He said Amu is accused in 15 cases including several murders. He was elected AL lawmaker thrice from Jhalakati-2 constituency.
Amu was also the coordinator of the 14-party alliance led by Awami League.
