The hanging body of an Awami League leader named Mokhlesur Rahman, aged 60, was recovered from Bogura’s Adamdighi upazila.
The deceased was the son of the late Ismail Hossain Mondal of Binahali village in the upazila. He was also the Legal Affairs Secretary of the Upazila Awami League.
The deceased was found hanging with a fan in his bedroom of a rented house in the Adamdighi Bazar area on Monday afternoon. On receiving information, the police came and recovered the body.
According to police and local sources, Mokhlesur Rahman lived in that rented house with his current wife, Afroza Begum, assistant teacher of Chatkhair Madrasa, and his first wife lives in the village.
Mokhlesur Rahman may have committed suicide by hanging himself in his room on Monday afternoon. The police recovered his body after receiving information from neighbours.
Rajesh Kumar Chakraborty, Officer in Charge (OC) of Adamdighi Police Station, said that it is believed that he may have committed suicide due to family conflict. The body has been sent to the mortuary for a post-mortem, OC added.
