Khulna Metropolitan Awami League Vice President Beg Liaquat Ali (70) was mobbed and handed over to police by the public.
On Saturday , the general public mobbed him at the city’s Fulbari Gate market and handed him over to Khanjahan Ali Police Station.
Police and locals said that since the fall of fascist Hasina, Beg Liaquat Ali has been hiding. Several cases have been filed against him.
Among them is a case in the International Crimes Tribunal for genocide and crimes against humanity. Local people, including businessmen, were fed up with his torture.
Recently, he was released on bail after serving jail time in a case. When he came to the Fulbari Gate market, people fed up with his torture surrounded him and mobbed him and handed him over to the police.
Khanjahan Ali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Kabir Hossain said, Beg Liaqat Ali was handed over to the police by the local people after a mob lynching.
He is currently in police custody. There is a case against him. He was released on bail in a case a few days ago.
