Jhenaidah District Awami League General Secretary, Saidul Karim Mintu, has been brought to the DB office for questioning regarding the murder of Member of Parliament Anwarul Azim Anar.
The Metropolitan Detective Police (DB) chief, Mohammad Harun Or Rashid, has stated that if Mintu fails to provide satisfactory answers based on the information gathered, legal action will be initiated against him.
Chief Harun made these remarks while addressing journalists at his office on Minto Road in the capital on Wednesday afternoon.
He mentioned that Jhenaidah District Awami League Relief and Social Welfare Secretary, Kazi Kamal Ahmed Babu alias Gas Babu, provided information that led to Mintu being called in for questioning.
The DB will seek clarifications from Mintu based on this information.
“If Mintu can provide satisfactory answers to the investigating officer, he will be released. However, if he fails to respond adequately, further actions will be taken as per the ongoing investigation,” Chief Harun explained.
Earlier on Tuesday, Saidul Karim Mintu was detained by the Metropolitan Detective Police (DB) in connection with the murder of MP Md. Anwarul Azim Anar.
