Police have arrested the son of the deceased in the murder of an Awami League leader on the roof of his house in Sylhet.
He was arrested and produced before the court on Saturday. The police have sought his five-day remand. As the family did not file a case in the murder case, SI Anwarul Kamal of Dakshin Surma Police Station filed a case as the plaintiff.
Police said that on Friday morning, the body of Awami League leader Abdur Razzak (55) was recovered from the roof of his house in Telirai village of Mollargaon union in Dakshin Surma. His intestines had come out due to stabbing. There was also a stab wound in his chest. In addition, the killers cut off his testicles.
Sylhet Metropolitan Police Media Officer Mohammad Saiful Islam said that Abdur Razzak’s family claims that his death was a suicide. But the evidence of murder does not indicate that. The family wanted to file a case of unnatural death in the case of his death. But the police did not take the case of unnatural death. Since the family did not agree, SI Anwarul Kamal of Dakshin Surma Police Station filed a murder case as the plaintiff and named unknown persons as the accused.
The deceased’s son, Asad Hossain, has been arrested and produced before the court in the case. Investigation officer AI ABM Shah Alam has sought his five-day remand. If Asad is brought on remand and questioned, the mystery of the murder is likely to be revealed.
Police officer Saiful said that the CCTV camera of the house was checked after the murder. At that time, no one entered the house from outside. No one even came out. Therefore, it is believed that Abudar Razzak was murdered by family members. Abdur Razzak’s wife, son, son’s wife and a grandson lived in the house. The murder may have been committed out of some serious anger. The killer stabbed him in anger and pulled out his intestines. In addition to stabbing him in the chest, he also cut off his testicles. Evidence suggests that there may be sexual harassment behind this murder. The police are working to unravel the mystery of the incident.
