A local Awami League leader, Nur Alam, also known as Nuru Trailer, was allegedly beaten to death on Sunday night in the Panchpara area of Chandraganj, reportedly due to political rivalry.
He was 60 years old and served as the general secretary of a ward-level unit of the Awami League in Chandraganj.
According to Inspector (Investigation) Md Mafizul Islam of Chandraganj police station, a group of 15 to 20 individuals armed with rods stormed Nur Alam’s home around 9 PM, brutally attacking him and leaving him critically injured. He was subsequently rushed to a hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
The body was sent to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Arif Hossain, the victim’s son, alleged that his father was murdered in a premeditated act due to his political affiliation. He claimed that local members of the BNP, including a man named Khokon, were involved in the attack.
