The Awami League’s General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister, Obaidul Quader, extolled the transformative leadership embodied by AL President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, asserting her pivotal role in reshaping Bangladesh’s destiny.

Quader made these remarks during a food distribution event at Rahmat-E-Alam Islam Mission Orphanage in Tejgaon, Dhaka, held to commemorate the homecoming day of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, organised by AL’s relief and social welfare sub-committee.

Quader emphasised Sheikh Hasina’s integrity, lauding her as “the most courageous and honest politician in the last 43 years.”

He attributed Bangladesh’s significant progress over the past 15 years to her dynamic leadership, remarking that the nation today bears little resemblance to its state 15 years ago.

Highlighting the importance of Sheikh Hasina’s homecoming, Quader equated it with the restoration of democracy and the resurgence of the spirit and values of the Liberation War.

He noted that her return symbolised the liberation of democracy from suppression and the initiation of the trial of war criminals responsible for atrocities against Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Quader underlined the nation’s strides in development under Sheikh Hasina’s leadership, citing landmark projects such as the Padma Bridge and metro rail.

He emphasised that progress has been comprehensive, reaching every corner of the country, from the hill tracts to the plains.

Dismissing recent comments by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir regarding the US stance on Bangladesh, Quader questioned the basis of Fakhrul’s assertions.

He asserted that the remarks by US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu are clear and render Fakhrul’s statements obsolete.

The event, chaired by AL Relief and Social Welfare Secretary Aminul Islam Amin, was attended by Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and Awami League Organising Secretary Mirza Azam, underscoring the party’s commitment to social welfare initiatives under Sheikh Hasina’s leadership.
