City Desk :

Despite the fall of the Awami League government, Abul Hossain of Madaripur continues to serve as the Managing Director (MD) of ICB. Alongside him, Biplob Kumar holds the position of personal assistant (PS) to MD, with BivasSaha as the Head of Administration, Tapas Dhali as the Head of the Establishment Department, and Babul Chandra Debnath as the Head of the Treasury, all of whom remain in office.

The MD of ICB seems indifferent to the political changes in the country. There are now rumors suggesting that he has strong connections with Jamaat. During the transition period, Babul Chandra Debnath, the President of the BangabandhuParishad, ASIB Branch, and Vice President SharikulAnamDipu are being considered for promotion to General Manager.

Despite the Chairman of the Board being abroad, the MD called for a board meeting at ICB on August 5, 2024. However, when student protests intensified, he was forced to cancel the meeting.

Within a week, he attempted to call another board meeting on August 11, 2024, for the same purpose. This move caused further anger and unrest within the office, leading to the postponement of the meeting once again.

The MD’s initiative to promote these less significant and controversial figures, who are known to be loyal to the Awami League, has been reported to higher levels of government. There are also allegations of corruption involving his close associates.

Dipu, who is known as the MD’s right-hand man, is now claiming that the army chief is his relative. It has been reported that steps are being taken to inform student leaders about the recent developments at ICB.

Investors have already begun voicing their concerns about corruption at ICB, including issues with the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), through social media. Images related to these events will be released sequentially.
