Akmal’s ton guides Pakistan to 248/8

Middle order batsman Umar Akmal scored a responsible ton saw Pakistan to a healthy total of 248 for 8 from their allotted 50 overs against Afghanistan in their second match of Asia Cup Cricket being held on Thursday at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah.
Thanks to Akmal for his impressive ton that not only gave Pakistan a fighting total but also saved from total embarrassment of dismissing a paltry total to minnows Afghanistan after their five top-order batsmen falling at 108 runs of the score board.
The right-handed wicket keeper batsman Akmal, who led form the front with unbeaten 102 runs off just 89-ball hitting seven boundaries and three over boundaries after openers – Sharjeel Khan (25) and Ahmed Shehzad (50) gave a steady start to Pakistan
contributing 55 runs of the opening stand.
Earlier, Pakistan fell into deep trouble losing their first five wickets in just 108 in the face of tight bowling attack by Afghanistan bowlers.
Pacer Umar Gul with 15 runs off 12 balls with a four and a six was the other unbeaten batsman on the crease.
Mirwais Ashraf, Samiullah Shenwari and Dawlat Zadran were the pick of Afghanistan bowlers taking two wickets each giving away 29, 74 and 73 runs respectively.
