AKM Habibur made new CSE chairman

The Board of Directors of the Chittagong Stock Exchange PLC (CSE) elects AKM Habibur Rahman as Chairman of the exchange.

All independent and shareholder directors unanimously elected him for the next three years at a board meeting held on Wednesday.

After resignation of all the independent directors in August 2024, Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) approved a list of seven independent directors. As per the BSEC approval, Alamgir Morshed, Prof. Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, AKM Habibur Rahman, Dr. Mahmud Hassan, M. Zulfiquar Hussain, Naznin Sultana and Farida Yasmin were approved as independent director of the company.

AKM Habibur Rahman started his career in Bangladesh Telegraph and Telephone Board (BTTB) in 1991 as BCS (Engineering: Telecommunication) officer. He successfully performed in BTTB up to 2008 in different positions.

Afterwards, he performed in BTCL as Deputy Managing Director, in BdREN as Chief Executive Officer, in Teletalk Bangladesh Limited and Bangladesh Submarine Cables PLC as Managing Director and in Department of Telecommunications as Director General (Additional Charge).

He completed his graduation from BUET in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
Afterwards, he completed his MBA from Institute of Business Administration of Dhaka University.

During his professional career, Mr. Rahman had the opportunity to enrich himself through technical and managerial trainings from both local and international institutions.
