North South University (NSU) celebrated a landmark day of innovation and discovery as it hosted the AI, IoT, and Robotics Day 2025, at the NSU Campus. Organised by the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences (SEPS), the event brought together faculty, researchers, students, and industry leaders to explore how emerging technologies are shaping the nation’s future, says a press release.
The opening ceremony began with a welcome address by Professor Dr. ShazzadHosain, Dean of SEPS, followed by remarks from Professor Dr. Abdur Rob Khan, Pro Vice-Chancellor of NSU, who inaugurated the event. The keynote session was delivered by Mr. Manjur Mahmud, President of Datasoft Systems, who spoke on “Building the Future Workforce: An AI-First Curriculum Model for University Industry Sandboxes in Smart Bangladesh.”
A dynamic panel discussion on “Transforming Bangladesh’s Technology Procurement Policy to Foster Local Value Addition through Industry and University Collaboration” followed, featuring Special Guest Mr. Benajir Ahmed, Founder Life Member of NSU, and distinguished panelists including Mr. Hasibur Rashid, CEO, Intercloud Ltd.; Mr. Mohammad Nahidul Karim, Ministry of ICT; Mr. Mohammad Tawrit, CEO, BdREN; Mr. Safwat Ahmed, Selise Digital Platforms; and Dr. M. Rokonuzzaman, Professor, NSU. The Session Chair was Professor Dr. Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor of NSU, who emphasized the importance of collaboration between academia and industry to drive sustainable technological growth in Bangladesh.
The session was filled with faculty members, research assistants, and lab students, who actively participated and engaged in the discussion on shaping Bangladesh’s technology-driven future. The highlight of the day was an exhibition showcasing cutting-edge innovations from NSU’s leading research labs including MILAB and Apurba-NSU R&D Lab, NSU Intelligent Robotics Lab (NIRO), MESIL, TriModal AI Lab, BioData AI Lab, Big-Matrix Lab, QuICK, Optimization of Large Robotic Systems Group, and Team X. Visitors experienced a vibrant display of AI-driven healthcare systems, intelligent robotics, multimodal learning models, and smart automation technologies.
Throughout the event, faculty and students engaged guests through live demonstrations and discussions, reflecting NSU’s growing strength in applied research and cross-disciplinary collaboration. The energy and enthusiasm across the campus highlighted the university’s role as a driving force in advancing Bangladesh’s journey toward technological excellence and global competitiveness.
