Home affairs and Agriculture Adviser Lt. Gen. Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury spoke at view exchange meeting with the Heads of Departments/ Organizations of the Ministry of Agriculture Sylhet region at conference room of DAD Sylhet region on November 26.
In his spceal he said this speech the adises said the contribution of farmers and agriculturists to our national achievements is undeniable. Agriculture is a major driving force in the overall development of the country.
The government is always sincere in the development of the country’s agriculture for the sake of national development and progress, including ensuring food security. He said that in order to build a prosperous Bangladesh in the future, new projects must be adopted and implemented for the development of agriculture and farmers.
Everyone should work for the development of the country by making use of the limited resources by turning the unemployed population into skilled manpower. Agriculture concerned should be more sincere in the development of farmers with agricultural tools to bring the fallow land of the country under cultivation.
He called upon the scientists to bring the 120-day paddy to the production stage within 100 days in Haor region and drew the attention of the farmers to cultivate two crops instead of one crop in Haor region.
Sylhet Divisional Commissioner Abu Ahmad Siddique NDC, Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Dr. Md Emdadullah Mian, Additional Secretary Zakir Hossain, Director General Saiful Islam. Various district and upazila level agricultural officers of Sylhet Division were present in the exchange meeting.
At the beginning of the programme, the chief guest planted a sapling in the premises of the farmhouse and interacted with the officials.
