Rotary, with the vow of friendship and human service, is working for the welfare of people all over the world. In continuation of that, the Rotary Meet of Bangladesh was held in Sylhet after a decade.
The annual conference was held for the first time outside the capital Dhaka from Saturday morning to evening at the Amanat Ullah Convention Hall in Sylhet city.
About two thousand people from different professions of the country gathered at this conference. The Rotarians present at the event expressed their firm commitment to reshape the world and said that other countries of the world will be polio-free like Bangladesh.
In their speeches at the event, the guests said that Rotarians have chosen human service as the path of the path. That is why Rotary International is spending millions of dollars every year. The chairman of the annual conference was Rotarian Zakir Ahmed Chowdhury. Rotary International President’s Representative PDG Ashish Ghosh and Country Coordinator Dr. Ishtiaq A Zaman were present as the chief guests. Deputy Coordinator PDG M Ataur Rahman Pir and PDG AKM Shamsul Huda, two district administrators Kamruzzaman Chowdhury Rumman and Md. Mahmudul Hasan Tuhin were present as special guests.
Also present were PDG Abdul Ahad, PDG Shams Shawkat, PDG Shahid Ahmed Chowdhury, PDG Triptish Chandra Ghosh, Farid Alam Newton, PDG Engineer Matiur Rahman, PDG HM Faisal Ahmed, Md. Siddiqur Rahman, Md. Mahbubul Haque Chowdhury, Kabir Uddin, Rehan Uddin Raihan, Jamal Uddin, Abdul Mukit, Mizanur Rahman, Sipon Ahmed, Editor Bikash Kanti Das and others.
The program, which started in the morning, did not have room for a mole in the presence of Rotarians. At the end of the program, 200 Rotarians were honored with various awards for their work for the poor. In addition, one of the awards was a Dhaka-Bangkok-Dhaka couple flight ticket, along with thousands of expensive gifts. At the end of the programme, expressing gratitude to all those present, Program Chairman Zakir Ahmed Chowdhury declared the annual conference closed with the permission of Country Coordinator Ishtiaq A Zaman.
