Bangladesh Railway (BR) began selling advance train tickets on Friday for Eid holidaymakers to ensure hassle-free journey.
Holidaymakers will be able to purchase their tickets online and through mobile apps.
For this, the commuters have to complete their registration through rail ticketing web portal ‘Rail Sheba’ or through sending SMS from mobile by showing NID/passport/birth certificate.
According to BR, online advance train ticket sale begins on Friday while the sale of advance return tickets will start from April 15.
Passengers can buy tickets ten days in advance. Tickets for April 17, 18, 19, 20 and 21 will be sold out on April 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 respectively while advance return tickets for April 25, 26, 27, 28 and 29 will be given on April 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19 respectively.
On the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, the operation of inter-country ‘Mitali Express’ will remain suspended from April 18 to 27 and ‘Maitri Express’ from April 20 to 27. Inter-country Bandhan Express, however, will run as per its schedule.
There will be no stopover of Dhaka-bound Ekata, Drutojan, Panchagarh, Nilsagar, Kurigram, Lalmoni and Rangpur Express trains at Dhaka Airport Station from 17 April to the day before Eid-ul-Fitr.
On the day of Eid-ul-Fitr, some mail express trains will be run under special management, but no inter-city trains will be operated on the day.
Meanwhile, The selling advance ticket for long-distance buses ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr begins on Friday morning.
The tickets are available at counters and passengers on Friday will be able to purchase advance tickets for April 16.
The passengers will get advance tickets from April 7-16.
Earlier, Bangladesh Bus-Truck Owners Association in press briefing said the monitoring team of bus owners would vigilant on the field to avert the black market. Police administrations will be also with them, informed Shubhangkar Ghosh Rakesh.
