Sylhet Bureau :
Sylhet Divisional Commissioner Khan Md. Reza-un-Nabi said that a complete list of those who recently looted the white stone of Bholaganj in Companiganj, Sylhet is being prepared. The work is being done with caution. So that the names of the real culprits are included in the list and innocent people are not harassed. After the list is prepared, it will be published.
He said these things while talking to reporters after a view-exchange meeting with officials working at the Companiganj Upazila Parishad auditorium on Wednesday (August 26) afternoon.
He said that manpower is being increased to protect smuggling and mineral resources in Sylhet. Discussions are underway to establish three more battalions of Border Guard Bangladesh-BGB. However, the process of establishing one battalion is underway. In addition, the police manpower is also being increased. We are also in the process of establishing a police outpost here. In addition, more camps and check posts will be set up.
Thanking the army for its overall cooperation, he said, “We are talking about taking legal action against those involved in misappropriating or stealing state resources, and we will also take necessary steps to protect these resources.”
In response to journalists’ questions, he said, “We talked about the lease on July 8. Nothing was said about stone theft. I did not say anything to encourage stone thieves. If anyone says or spreads such a thing, it is the wrong message.”
Regarding the complete list of looters, he said, “Work is underway in this regard in coordination with various agencies, including intelligence agencies. Work is being done to ensure that the names of the real looters are published in the list and that innocent people are not harassed. For that, I think it is necessary to give some time.”
