Adamdighi (Bogra) Correspondent :

Manik Mondal, a successful farmer of Adamdighi, Bogura. He built a duck farm. To be financially self-sufficient without running after a job, to meet the meat needs of the country, about one and a half years ago, Manik Mondal started a duck farm next to the house. He is now a successful businessman. He has responded to this farm area. The door of fate also opened for him. Many people are inclined to keep this animal because of its profit.
Dulal Mondal, father of farmer Manik Mondal, a resident of Malson village in the upazila, once used to sell poultry in the bazaar. Seeing his father’s poultry business, the idea of duck farming came into his mind from a young age. And from that idea in 2006 he built a small scale duck farm. From then on, there was no looking back. Manik Mondal rears 1,000 to 1200 ducks per consignment in his farm. He bought one-day-old ducklings and started rearing them on his farm. After feeding the ducklings for three weeks, the ducklings are fed with rice powder and rice flour in addition to feeding in the pond.
After rearing the ducks for three months, if they are suitable for sale, the ducks are marketed. Farmer Manik Mandal sold each duck at wholesale price of Tk 350 to Tk 400 hundred. Currently, Manik Mondal himself has built a new duck hatchery. He has started hatching ducklings by artificial breeding in his hanchari. Manik Mondal, a farmer of Malson village of the upazila, said to build a duck farm in order to become financially self-sufficient. But in the beginning a little loss had to be counted. Now his duck farm has turned into a profitable business.
He earns 6 to 7 lakhs a profit from the farm every year excluding almost all expenses. He also said that every farm has been fulfilling the demand of meat from supplying the country’s economy. As soon as thousands of farmers like me in the country need to be brought under the incentives of the government. If the government pays attention to the farmers, besides meeting the demand of non-vegetarians, economic development will be created and employment will be created for thousands of unemployed youths.
