Just a day after being sent to jail in connection with an attempted murder case related to the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement protests, Dhallywood actress Nusraat Faria has been granted bail.
Dhaka’s Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mostafizur Rahman approved the bail on Tuesday following a petition submitted by her lawyer, Mohammad Iftekhar Hossain.
Nusraat’s arrest, particularly due to her portrayal of Sheikh Hasina in the biopic “Mujib: The Making of a Nation”, sparked widespread debate and criticism on social media. Members of the interim government also weighed in on the controversy.
