Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh said that four times fine will be imposed if Aedes mosquito larvae are found in government installations, housing and establishments.
“We are now operating mobile courts in under-construction installations, especially in government housing and under-construction installations…. I have instructed our mobile courts to impose a fine for four times if Aedes mosquito larvae are found in government housing and under-construction installations,” he said.
The mayor made the announcement at a meeting on “Aedes mosquito-borne dengue and chikungunya disease prevention” organized by the National Malaria Eradication and Aedes-Borne Disease Control Program of the Department of Health at Mayor Hanif Auditorium of Nagar Bhaban recently, said a press release.
“If we want to solve the problem, at first, we have to identify the problem, mosquito workers cannot go to various under-construction government’s buildings, residential colonies. That is why we are now conducting mobile courts in government housing areas,” he added.
Chief Health Officer of the city corporation Brigadier General Dr M Sharif Ahmed presided over the event while Chief Executive Officer Farid Ahmed and CDC Director Prof Dr Mohammad Nazmul Islam spoke as special guests.
South City councilors, regional executive officers and heads of various departments of the corporation were present at the meeting.
