The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has decided to file a case against Mahi Badruddoza Chowdhury, joint secretary general of Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh, for allegedly accumulating illegal wealth worth over Tk20.5 crore and concealing information in his wealth statement.
ACC Deputy Director Akhtarul Islam confirmed the decision to the media on Wednesday.

According to the ACC investigation, Mahi B Chowdhury allegedly hid assets worth Tk9.68 crore and submitted false and misleading information in his wealth declaration.
The probe also found that he possessed assets valued at Tk20.69 crore that could not be explained by his known income sources.

The anti-graft agency further claimed that Mahi was involved in money laundering through a land purchase deal involving 68 acres valued at Tk9.68 crore.

The amount was later transferred to Avalon Estate Limited — a company under his ownership — through a series of transactions, which investigators said constitutes a violation of the Money Laundering Prevention Act.

Officials said the ACC is now preparing to formally lodge the case and move forward with legal proceedings against him.
