The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed three separate cases against former Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president and former Youth and Sports Minister Nazmul Hassan Papon, his wife Roksana Hassan, and former Beximco Pharmaceuticals director and executive director Ismail Haider Mollick.

They have been accused of illegally amassing wealth worth Tk 35.77 crore, ACC Director General (Prevention) Akhtar Hossain told reporters on Monday at the commission’s headquarters in Segunbagicha, Dhaka.

Papon has been named as an accused in all three cases. According to the ACC, he illegally acquired assets worth Tk 20.07 crore. He is also accused of conducting suspicious transactions totaling Tk 742.72 crore through 20 bank accounts registered in his name.

His wife, Roksana Hassan, has been charged with amassing illegal wealth worth Tk 12 crore. She allegedly carried out suspicious transactions amounting to Tk 49.33 crore through 11 bank accounts, according to the ACC.

Meanwhile, Ismail Haider Mollick is accused of acquiring Tk 3.70 crore in wealth beyond his known sources of income.

In addition to filing the cases, the ACC has sought wealth statements from Papon’s children and Ismail’s wife.

Earlier, on 16 March, a Dhaka court ordered the freezing of 27 bank accounts belonging to Nazmul Hassan Papon, his wife Roksana Hassan, and other family members in connection with the graft allegations.
