The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has conducted a raid at the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) headquarters in Nagar Bhaban as part of a preliminary inquiry into alleged misappropriation of funds through inflated fuel expenses.
ACC spokesman Akhtarul Islam said investigators are seizing documents related to fuel costs recorded during a 40-day shutdown of city offices amid protests. He noted that millions of taka were claimed for fuel despite the offices being closed, and investigators are seeking to determine where the fuel went.
The raid follows a Prothom Alo report that fuel bills for DSCC vehicles continued during the shutdown, and the ACC said the operation was based on those disclosures.
