The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has ordered 17 officials of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) to provide detailed asset declarations.

“Findings from our investigation suggest that these officials may own wealth disproportionate to their known income,” said ACC Director General Akhtar Hossain at a press briefing held on Tuesday at the commission’s Segunbagicha headquarters.

He explained that during the ACC’s data review, clear mismatches were discovered between the assets held by these officials – either in their own names or under proxies – and their officially reported income sources.

“In light of these discrepancies, the ACC has decided to issue formal notices requiring them to submit complete statements of assets and liabilities,” Hossain added.

According to ACC insiders, the list of officials includes: NBR member Md Lutful Azim; former additional director general (CIC) Md Alamgir Hossain; Joint Commissioner Md Tariq Hasan; Additional Commissioner Sadhan Kumar Kundu; Customs, Excise and VAT Commissioner Kazi Md Zia Uddin; Railway Customs Commissioner Md Kamruzzaman; VAT LTU Additional Commissioner Abdur Rashid Mia; Tax Zone-16 Deputy Commissioners Mohammad Shihabul Islam and Monalisa Sharin Susmita; Tax Zone-8 Additional Commissioner Mirza Ashiq Rana; BCS Tax Academy Joint Commissioner Mohammad Morshed Uddin Khan; member (Income Tax Policy) AKM Badiul Alam; VAT Audit, Intelligence and Investigation Additional Commissioner Hasan Tarek Rikabdar; Additional Commissioner Mohammad Mamun Mia; Intelligence Unit Additional Commissioner Sahela Siddique; Tax Appellate Tribunal Commissioner Lokman Ahmed; and Tax Zone-3 Commissioner MM Fazlul Haque.
