The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed two separate cases against former Khulna City Corporation (KCC) mayor Talukder Abdul Khalek and his wife, former deputy minister Habibun Nahar.
The two cases were filed at the Khulna Integrated District Office of the ACC on Wednesday, July 9.
The plaintiff in the case filed against Talukder Abdul Khalek is Rakibul Islam, Assistant Director of the ACC’s Khulna Integrated District Office. In the case, Talukder Abdul Khalek has been accused of acquiring assets inconsistent with his declared income of Tk 15.57 crore while he was the KCC mayor and the member of parliament for Bagerhat-3 constituency.
On the other hand, the plaintiff in the case filed against Habibun Nahar is Md. Ashiqur Rahman, Deputy Assistant Director of the ACC’s District Office. In the said case, Habibun Nahar, who is the Deputy Minister of Forests and Climate Change and the Member of Parliament for Bagerhat-3 constituency, has been accused of acquiring assets worth Tk 1 crore 66 lakh beyond his known income.
Two cases have been registered against them under Section 27(1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2004.
