The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) decided to initiate investigation against former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal over the allegation of amassing illegal wealth through corruption and abuse of power.
ACC Deputy Director and spokesperson Md Akhtarul Islam confirmed the media on Thursday.
The ACC has brought forward allegations against Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and his five associates for being part of a syndicate involved in corruption related to recruitment, placement, and transfer processes, Akhtarul Islam said.
Asaduzzaman has been accused in several cases filed about the recent student movement.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) directed banks and financial institutions to freeze the accounts of the former Home Minister, his wife, and their son and daughter.
