A live public hearing on the complaints of citizens deprived of services and harassed in government offices located in Khulna Sadar was held at the District Shilpakala Academy auditorium on Sunday morning, organised by the Anti-Corruption Commission. ACC Commissioner (Investigation) Mian Muhammad Ali Akbar Aziji was the chief guest at the public hearing.
In his speech as the chief guest, ACC Commissioner (Investigation) Mian Muhammad Ali Akbar Aziji said, “Government employees are paid with the tax money paid by the people. We, in turn, become their masters. Government employees are responsible for serving the citizens with honesty by making full use of the qualifications given by Allah. He who fears the Creator cannot knowingly do wrong.” The Commissioner said, “We are all judges in our own positions.” If we give gifts or gifts to our families more than our own income, how will we be accountable to our children? We will be honest ourselves and keep our families on the right path.
Addressing the young generation, he said, “Don’t be disappointed. Just as we have to serve our families, we have to use our knowledge to serve the republic. If necessary, we have to become entrepreneurs.”
Addressing government employees, he said, “We all promise to stop corruption and at the same time, we have to ensure quality service.”
ACC Commissioner (Investigation) Brigadier General (Retd.) Hafiz Ahsan Farid was the special guest at the event. Khulna Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Saiful Islam presided over the event, and ACC Khulna Integrated District Office Deputy Director Md. Abdul Wadud welcomed the event. Divisional Commissioner Md. Firoz Sarkar, ACC Director General (Prevention) Md. Akhter Hossain, Khulna Range DIG of Police Md. Rezaul Haque, Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md. Zulfikar Ali Haider and Police Superintendent T. M. Mosharraf Hossain spoke at the public hearing.
Officials and employees of all government, semi-government, autonomous, bank and financial institutions located in Khulna Sadar, representatives of civil society, media workers, prominent citizens and complainants were present at the public hearing.
It is worth noting that the ACC organized this event to directly hear the complaints of citizens deprived of services and victims of harassment in Khulna metropolis with the slogan ‘Unity of youth against corruption, let’s build the purity of the future’. Victims of bribery, corruption and harassment to get services in various government departments raised their complaints at the event. The ACC ordered an immediate investigation or appropriate decision was given regarding the complaints raised.
