The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has found that former Awami League MP Abdus Sobhan Golap owns nine houses and flats in the United States (US). The market value of the properties is Tk 32 crore.
ACC Director General Akhtar Hossain made the disclosure to the media at a press briefing held at the ACC headquarters on Wednesday.
The investigation revealed that the properties were allegedly purchased by Abdus Sobhan through money that was transferred from Bangladesh to the US. The ACC has approved a case against him over accumulating wealth beyond his known sources of income, which will be filed by Deputy Director Nurul Huda.
He also mentioned that Sobhan’s financial activities are being closely examined, and suspicious transactions amounting to Tk 97 crore 63 lakh 23 thousand have been discovered across 51 of his bank accounts.
