The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against Saima Wazed Putul, daughter of deposed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, for allegedly submitting false qualifications in her application for the position of Regional Director of the WHO South-East Asia. This is one of two cases filed against her.
ACC Deputy Director Tahasin Monabil filed two cases against Saima Wazed Putul on Thursday. One of the cases involves allegations of embezzling Tk 33 crore under the guise of CSR assistance for the Shuchona Foundation.
The former chairman of Exim Bank, Nazrul Islam Majumdar, has also been named as an accused in the case. The CSR fund, which operates for banks under the Bangladesh Association of Banks, is central to this case.
