Abdullah Al Mamun, Deputy Secretary (DS), project director of Sports Complex for People with Special Needs (scpsn) under the Ministry of Social Welfare, is alleged to have embezzled money of the project.
In this project, there is a rule that an official of the rank of joint secretary should be the project director. He was appointed in this project on the recommendation of former social welfare minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed.
Although a car was purchased for the project, he allegedly embezzled Tk 2 lakh per month in the name of car rental.
He embezzled the money allocated to the DPP of this project through various fake bills and vouchers. He hired his brother before the electro-mechanical part of the project started.
Even though the former prime minister inaugurated the foundation stone, placing plaques and logistical support under Public Works Department, he embezzled Tk 10.17 lakh through fake bill vouchers.
Earlier he served as Tejgaon AC Land. There too he committed unprecedented corruption. Many media also reported his corruption but even after that he passed with the blessings of the former social welfare minister.
The project concerned have expressed their opinion to take necessary measures after investigating this official.
Abdullah Al Mamun has been called about his corruption. He didn’t answer the phone. Even after sending a message on WhatsApp, there was no reply.
