An abandoned grenade was recovered from a pond in Tangail’s Mirzapur. Fear has spread in the area on Monday at Paharpur village of Mirzapur municipality. The police said that the grenade was recovered from Deloyor Hossain’s pond.
On Tuesday (June 25), according to police sources, yesterday night, local residents found a large black colored grenade abandoned in the pond of Delwar Hossain’s house in Paharpur village. Villagers saw the grenades and called the National Emergency Service 999 that night.
After receiving the call, Mirzapur Thana police went to the spot at night and recovered the grenade. The police believe that the grenade was dropped in the pond by the Pak invaders or freedom fighters during the Great War of Independence in 1971. The grenade will be destroyed on the instructions of senior police officers.
In this regard, the duty officer of Mirzapur police station. Sohel Rana said that the grenade was recovered from the pond of Paharpur village on Monday night.
The grenade will be sent to Dhaka bomb disposal cell for testing. After testing, the grenade will be destroyed later on the instructions of the superior officers.
