Dhaka Abahani Limited reached the final of the Federation Cup Football after defeating Bashundhara Kings by 4-2 goals in the tie-breaker of the First Qualifier was held at Martyr Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla on Tuesday.
The ninety-minute match ended in a 1-1 draw. Thus, the match turned into extra time but no team could score in the extra 30-minute game. Later, the fate of the match was decided in the tie-breaker and Abahani won the match in the penalty shoot out.
After a barren first half, Mojibur Rahman Jony of Bashundhara Kings put his team ahead by a placing shot using a pass of his teammate Fernandes in the 55th minute.
Substitute Arman Foysal Akash of Dhaka Abahani Limited equalized the margin by a spectacular placing shot.
Foysal Ahmed Fahim of Bashundhara was roughly charged by Asaduzzaman Bablu in the 42nd minute of the game. Thus, referee showed yellow card to Bablu. It was his second yellow card. So, it became red card and Banlu was bound to leave the field.
Bashundhara Kings got the first opportunity in the 16th minute. Evans Ettis’ header was saved by Abahani custodian Mitul Marma. Eavans got the ball on his way from a free-kick of his teammate Fernandes.
Then, Bashundhara Kings increased their attack. In the 37th Minute Foysal Ahmed Fahim got the ball in the goalmouth of Abahani from a angular cross of his teammate Rakib Hossain but Mitul Marma gripped the ball after diving.
After the lemon-break, Bashundhara Kings tried their best to score the match-decider but they failed to do that.
It was for the second time that Dhaka Abahani Limited defeated Bashundhara Kings in this season.
Meanwhile, Rahmatganj MFS beat Brothers Union Limited 2-1 in the Eliminator phase was held at Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh on the same day.
Rahmatganj will face Bashundhara Kings in the second Qualifier to reach the final.
The ninety-minute match ended in a 1-1 draw.

Brothers Union’s Nigerian recruit Mfon Sunday put his team ahead in the 35th minute.
After the intermission, Rahmatganj’s Ghanaian Forward Samuel Boateng leveled the margin in the 65th minute of the match.
Rahmatganj’s Gambian recruit Solomon King scored the match-winning goal in the 10th minute of the extra time.
