An unbeaten century from Tamim Iqbal powered Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited to registered a resounding seven-wicket victory over Partex Sportring Club in their third match of the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) Cricket at the BKSP Ground-4 in Savar on Sunday. Dashing opener Tamim remained unbeaten with 125. His 112-ball innings had five sixes and 11 fours. Tamim was adjudged the Man of the Match.
Chasing Partex’s 218 off 46.3 overs, Mohammedan coasted home making 222 for the loss of three wickets when they had 58 balls to spare.
Mohammedan had a sorrow start as opener Rony Talukdar (9) was caught behind by Adil off Mohor Sheikh when Mohammedan’s score was just nine.
After Adil’s dismissal, Mahidul Islam Ankon (6) was dismissed by Jawad Royen when Mohammedan’s total was 35 for the loss of two wickets.
Then, Tamim and Tawhid Hridoy built a worthy partnership contributing together 65 runs for the third wicket partnership before Hridoy was bowled out by Naeem Islam when Mahammedan’s score was 100 for the loss of three wickets.
Hridoy made 37 from 43 deliveries featuring five fours.
After Hridoy’s departure, Tamim and Mushfiqur Rahim guided their team to anchor the victory spot contributing together 122 runs in the unbroken stand.
Mushfiqur Rahim remained unbeaten with 35. His 44-ball innings was laced with four fours.
Jawad, Mohor, Naeem took one wicket apiece.
Earlier, Ahrar Ameen, Jawad and Joyraj Sheikh could make notable scores against the tight, controlled and superb bowling attack of Mohammedan’s bowlers.
Ahrar Ameen notched up a marvelous 78. His 86-ball innings was belted with six fours and three sixes.
Jawad hit a polished 42 from 45 balls including four fours.
Joyraj Sheikh scored 38 from 56 deliveries with five fours and a sixer.
Taijul Islam captured four wickets in the space of 50 runs, while Nasum Ahmed claimed three wickets in lieu of 42 runs and Mohammad Saifuddin bagged two wickets instead of 32 runs.
Besides, Abu Hider picked up one wicket giving 43 runs.
Meanwhile, Dhaka Abahani Limited earn an easy four-wicket victory over Rupganj Tigers Cricket Club in their third match of the DPL Cricket at the BKSP Ground-3 in Savar on the same day.
Sent into bat first, Rupganj Tigers Cricket Club piled up a fighting total of 260 off 49.4 overs.
In return, Abahani reached the winning target making 264 for the loss of six wickets remaining with 15 balls.
Wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Mithun of Abahani hit his team’s highest score of 60 runs. His 61-ball innings had three fours and a sixer.
Mosaddek Hossain remained unbeaten with 47. His 38-ball knock was decorated with four fours and two sixes.
Parvez Hossain Emon made 47 from 58 deliveries including four fours and two sixes.
Jishan Alam scored 39 from 42 balls featuring three sixes and two fours.
Najmul Hossain Shanto hit 37 from 50 deliveries with three fours.
Foysal was the highest wicket taker of Rupganj Tigers with two wickets conceding 45 runs.
Earlier, Al Amin restored some parity for his team Rupganj Tigers Cricket Club. He notched up a terrific 104. His 89-ball innings was studded with 10 four and two sixes. He was adjudged the Man of the Match.
Besides, Foysal made 49 from 47 balls with four fours and a sixer.
Rakibul Hasan grabbed three wickets in the space of 43 runs, while Nahid Rana and Mosaddek Hossain bagged two wickets each giving 36 and 37 runs respectively.
In the day’s other match, Prime Bank Cricket Club posted a huge 173-run win over Brothers Union Limited at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital’s Mirpur on the same day.
Batting first Prime Bank piled up a mammoth total of 422 for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 50 overs and then bundled out Brothers Union Limited for 249 off 42.3 overs.
Naim Sheikh of Prime Bank hammered a hurricane 176. His 125-ball innings was laced with eight sixes and 18 fours.
Sabbir Hossain hit a splendid 73 from 63 deliveries featuring nine fours and four sixes.
Sazzadul Hoque remained unbeaten with 50 runs. His 37-ball innings had three fours and two sixes.
Abdullah Al Mamun cracked 40 using 22 balls with three sixes and three fours.
Al Amin Hossain was the highest wicket taker of his team with three wickets instead of 77 runs.
Later, Aich Mollah of Brothers Union was deprived from a ton for just four runs. He scored 96. His 110-ball innings was laced with seven fours and five sixes.
Rishad Hossain captured three wickets in the space of 66 runs, while Shamim Hossain, Khaled Ahmed and Hasan Mahmud picked up two wickets for 22, 27 and 57 runs respectively.
