At a discussion meeting organized by the BNP marking the 50th anniversary of the National Revolution and Solidarity Day, AB Party Chairman Mojibur Rahman Monju proposed a seat-sharing arrangement with BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami.
He said, “Out of 300 parliamentary seats, candidates in 150 constituencies will be nominated through an understanding between the BNP-led alliance and the Jamaat-led alliance. The remaining 150 seats will remain open. In the 150 seats under the understanding, the BNP alliance will field candidates in 100 seats, while the Jamaat alliance will contest in 50 seats. For the other 150 seats, all parties may field candidates as they wish.”
Monju made this proposal on Wednesday afternoon while addressing the discussion meeting organized by the BNP at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center in observance of the historic 7 November National Revolution and Solidarity Day.
At the event, Gana Adhikar Parishad General Secretary Rashed Khan emphasized the importance of holding the election, warning that if it does not take place by next February, the country may face “another 1/11.”
Gano Forum President Subrata Chowdhury, Revolutionary Workers Party General Secretary Saiful Haque, and Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General Ehsan Mahbub Jubair also spoke at the event.
