A gang of 4 thieves were arrested along with the insulated copper coils of Bangladesh-India Friendship Thermo coal based Power Plant at Rampal in Bagerhat district by the Police of Rampal PS at the night of Wednesday.
The arrested thieves are Md. Jobbar Khan (40), son of one late Abu Sayeed Khan of village Bhattakanakpur under Bagerhat Sadar Upazila, Mithu Shaikh (35), son of one Mafizddin Shaikh of Town Noapara area under Fakirhat Upazila, Md. Raju Shaikh (40), son of one late Keramat Ali Shaikh of village Borni under Rampal Upazila and Abdur Rahman Shaikh (50), son of one Abdur Rashid Shaikh of village Bhabna under Fakirhat Upazila, according to a delayed report received here. It was confirmed by Somen Das, Officer-in-charge of Rampal PS and told, after lodging a case with the PS against the arrested thieves they were sent to Bagerhat jail hajat through the court on the following day Thursday (July 11).
It was learnt from a source of Rampal PS that at the night acting on secret information that a gang of thieves after stealing the copper coils from the interior of the boundary area of the Power Plant and they are waiting for smuggling them (copper coils) a skilled squad of police of the PS raided the area and arrested the thieves along with the booty with the help of the locals. The recovered insulated copper coils weighing 480 kgs valued worth Taka 5 lakh 76 thousand.
